COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Maryland women's soccer student-athletes Madison Turner, Jarena Harmon and Jlon Flippens were named Big Ten Player to Watch, the conference announced Monday morning.
Turner started all 19 matches in 2016 and notched two assists. The senior, who started games at forward, in the midfield and along the backline last season, is expected to once again help the Terps in a variety of positions on the field.
Harmon, a junior, was Maryland's second leading scorer in 2016 with eight goals and combined with Chelsea Jackson as one of the top scoring tandems in the conference. The Washington D.C., native also added one assist over her 16 starts.
Flippens burst onto the scene as a freshman last year, recording a team high in minutes played (1763) and starting all 19 matches. She led the Terps with four assists and also added a goal.
Maryland begins its season Friday, August 18 at Ludwig Field against Drexel. First kick is scheduled for 7 p.m.
