EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. -- Redshirt sophomore David-Brian Whisler took home first place in the 97 KG bracket at the 2018 Phil Poruese NE Regional on Sunday.
Both of Whisler's victories came by technical fall, knocking off opponents from the Nassau and Boston RTC wrestling programs.
Freshmen Mansur Abdul-Malik and Kyle Cochran also impressed, each finishing second in the 79 and 125 KG weight classes respectively. Cochran nearly earned a first-place finish, but fell in his championship bout by a 6-4 decision.
