Anjalé Barrett Hired as Assistant at LIU Brooklyn

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Maryland Director of Player Personnel and Recruiting Operations Anjalé Barrett will join LIU Brooklyn as an assistant coach for the upcoming season. The former Terrapin spent two seasons on Brenda Frese's staff.

"We are thrilled for Anjale and this next step in her journey of coaching," Frese said. "She is more than ready for this next opportunity.  Anjale will be moving back closer to home around family and friends and will be a tremendous addition to the LIU family."

During her two seasons on the bench, Barrett helped Maryland to a 58-11 overall record, a 27-5 mark in conference play and back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances. She also played a supportive roll in signing the fourth-ranked recruiting class in 2018.

Barrett played for the Terrapins from 2008-2012, helping them to a record of 140-35 (.800), the 2009 and 2012 ACC titles, four NCAA Tournament appearances and three Elite Eights. The Bronx native played in 137 career games for the Terrapins, starting in 80. She scored 796 career points and notched 486 career assists. She is sixth on Maryland's all-time list in assists.

Barrett was a third round WNBA draft pick in 2012. She played professionally in France for two seasons with the team Caen France. After playing overseas, Barrett served as an assistant coach at the College of New Rochelle, working with daily practice planning, player development and drills.
