Throughout the 2018-19 season, umterps.com will run a Q&A series with members of the Maryland wrestling team and staff. Fans will get to know more about their background and wrestling history, as well as some fun facts they may not have known before. Next up is Jamar Williams!
On only losing three times in his high school career:
"It felt really good. I trained really hard in high school, so it was good to see some results from it. The last time I lost in high school was my junior year. I lost 1-0 to a guy who's at Virginia Tech now."Â
On representing his home state after growing up in Maryland:
"It feels good. After I left, I really realized I wanted to come back home and put on a good performance for my home state. I love this state and want to represent it well."
On what he likes about College Park so far:
"College Park has been a great place so far. I have a lot of really great teammates and a solid support system around me. I've enjoyed working with the people on our academic support staff and I've also had fun getting to know a lot of the guys who I only knew a little bit before coming here."
On his goals for the season:Â
"I want to become an All-American and knock off some good wrestlers along the way."
Hobbies outside of wrestling:Â
"I love Snapchat. I probably have between 300 and 400 streaks going right now and my goal is to get my snap score up to 2 million. I'm at 1.8 right now, so I'm close. All of my streaks are at 100 days or more and my longest streak is three years."
Favorite sports movie:
"Friday Night Lights"
Favorite musical artist:
"I don't really have a favorite, but before my matches I love listening to Hannah Montana. It just relaxes me."
