Poarch Named B1G Offensive Player of the Week

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Redshirt sophomore Alyssa Poarch was named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week in a release made by the conference offices today.

This is the first weekly conference award for Poarch, and the third conference honor for a Maryland player this season, joining Erin Seppi (Goalkeeper of the Week) and Malike Dayes (Defensive Player of the Week) as  this season's honorees.

Poarch had a goal and an assist to help the Terps upset No. 20 Rutgers on the road this past Saturday, September 28, marking the first ranked road victory for UMD since 2014. Poarch scored the game's first goal to put Maryland ahead 1-0, then assisted on the game-winner to secure the victory for Maryland.

The Middletown, Del. native has totaled a team-high six goals this season, and has scored or assisted on the game-winning goal for the Terps three times.

Poarch and the rest of the Maryland women's soccer team returns to action this Thursday, October 3 to face Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio.
