CLARKSBURG, Md. -- Sophomores Nicole Alford, Samantha Burgio and Jada Gardner traveled to Wilson Wims Elementary School in Clarksburg on Monday to speak to the school's fourth grade class about developmental volleyball skills, goal setting and the effects of exercise.

The trio of sophomores were greeted with a warm welcome of posters and signs from the students. They then introduced themselves to the assembly of students before talking about their experiences as student-athletes and answering questions from the group. Alford, Burgio and Gardner then taught the class some drills on bumping and setting and led a group activity.

"It was a great experience to go and share the sport we love with the students at Wilson Wims Elementary," said Alford. "Seeing how excited and engaged the kids were reminds us why we play the game. Today was a great event to be apart of!"

Themes of the discussion included teamwork and team building, life as a student-athlete, the best thing about volleyball and how many years the girls have been playing.
