The Terps are coming off their best performance of the season at home against Ohio State where they posted an impressive 195.950.
"We're a tough and gritty team," said head coach
Brett Nelligan. "We really had to fight all the way through against Ohio State and the girls were able to charge through and get the win."
The Terrapins enter the halfway point of the regular season with a team average of 194.710 and move up four spots in the rankings to No. 31. Last week sophomore
Audrey Barber took the all-around title after posting a 39.050 and sophomore
Emilie LeBlanc won the beam category with her career-best 9.850.
Four Maryland competitors earned 9.825 or better on bars including LeBlanc (9.875), junior
Tiara Wright (9.875), Barber (9.8500 and freshman
Sanya Glauber (9.825). The GymTerps earned a new season-high on bars with a team score 49.175.
The Terps energizing floor performances earned a new season-best team score of 49.075 led by sophomore
Collea Burgess whose nearly flawless routine earned her a career-best 9.875.
Scouting the Opponent
The Minnesota Golden Gophers are the No. 16 ranked team in the nation and second in the Big Ten. Minnesota remains undefeated in Big Ten competition after taking down Nebraska last week with a score of 196.600.
The Golden Gophers earned a 49.000 or above on every team event. Lexy Ramler posted an all-around score of 39.475 and took the title on beam with a 9.900.
Minnesota is ranked No. 9 on bars and No. 17 on both beam and vault.
