Charles was named to the Citizen Naismith Trophy Midseason Team Monday and a finalist for the Cheryl Miller Award for the nation's top small forward. She was named to the Wade Watch List and the Wooden Award Late Season Top 20 last week.Â
Maryland is ninth in the country and leads the Big Ten in rebounding margin (+10.2) and in defensive rebounds (30.0). Lewis leads the Big Ten in assist/turnover ratio (2.7) and assists (5.3). Freshman
Taylor Mikesell leads the league and is 18th in the country in threes made with 73. She broke Maryland's freshman threes record Thursday vs. Iowa. Austin is third in the Big Ten and 11th in the country in total blocks (62). Charles is No. 4 in the Big Ten in scoring (16.9), Mikesell is No. 13 (13.8 and Jones is tied for 16th (12.8).
With their win at Illinois on Feb. 4, the Terps reached the 20-win mark for the 15th consecutive season under
Brenda Frese and 25th time in school history.
As a program, Maryland has earned a record of 995-424 (.701) and needs five wins to reach 1,000. Only nine Division I women's basketball programs have reached 1,000 wins.
