Taylor Earns B1G Defensive Player of the Week Honors

COLLEGE PARK, Md. --- For the second week in a row and 10th time in her career, senior Megan Taylor was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.

Taylor was sensational in Maryland's win over No. 4 Syracuse on Saturday, posting 12 saves to only 11 allowed goals, leading the Terps to the overtime victory. The senior made four game-saving stops with the game tied over the final 15 minutes and had seven point blank saves in the second half of the close game. Taylor, who helped hold the Orange to 0-for-3 on free position attempts, held Syracuse to their lowest goal total of the year.

Currently ranked fourth in the country and first in the Big Ten with a .549 save percentage, Taylor has 56 saves on the season to only 46 goals allowed and has over a .500 save percentage in all six of Maryland's games this season.

This is the second week in a row Taylor was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week after last week posting 11 saves to only six goals allowed, a .647 save percentage. Also last week, Taylor was selected to the Tewaaraton Watch List for the third time in her career. A captain on this year's team, Taylor is also a Big Ten Player to Watch and an Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-American.

Taylor and the Terps will be back in action for two home games this week, first playing No. 8 Penn tomorrow night at 5:00 p.m. before taking on Ohio State on Saturday at noon.
