COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The IWLCA announced on Wednesday that the Maryland women's lacrosse team is one of 91 Division I programs to earn IWLCA Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad honors. In addition, five members of the Maryland women's lacrosse team were selected to the IWLCA Zag Sports Division I Academic Honor Roll.
To qualify for the prestigious Academic Honor Squad honor, women's lacrosse programs from around the nation had to post a 3.0 or higher team grade-point average for the academic year. As a team, Maryland earned a cumulative GPA of 3.227 and worked towards a 3.234 team GPA in the spring.
Individually, seniors
Kelsey Cummings,
Jen Giles,
Katherine Golladay and
Meghan Siverson and junior
Andrea McTaggart were all named to the Honor Roll. To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater. This is the second straight year on the honor roll for Cummings, Giles, Golladay and Siverson.
All five Terps that nabbed Honor Roll accolades were also selected to the Academic All-Big Ten team last month. Additionally, Cummings, Giles, Golladay and McTaggart were all named Big Ten Distinguished Scholars, which is given to student-athletes across the conference who have recorded a minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 3.7 or higher for the previous academic year.
Golladay and McTaggart both maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA during the 2018-19 school year, two of only four Maryland student-athletes to do so.
