Throwback Thursday: Candice Beards

During her time at Maryland, Candice Beards (now Johnson) made her mark on the Maryland Softball program. After her four years as a Terp, Candice finished her career ranked fourth in Maryland history in walks (84), fifth in RBIs (110), seventh in triples (5) and ninth in doubles (35). In 2012, she was named ACC Player of the Week (04/25) and a NFCA All-Region First Team selection. Candice rounded out her career as a Terp being named an All-ACC Second Team selection in 2014.

"My time at Maryland and being a student athlete in general shaped me for the battles that life meets us unexpectedly. Every day is not the same and becoming a mother, wife and academic director for a non profit creates days that are very unpredictable ha! Those 4 years shaped and created a strong woman to be able to juggle multiple things to the best of my abilities, and I am so grateful for that!"

Candice graduated with an M.B.A. from Concordia University Chicago in 2016, and married former Maryland football player Bradley Johnson ('13). The couple have a two-year old daughter Camryn, a baby boy on the way due in February of 2021, and recently relocated to the Charlotte, N.C. area to be closer to family.

"When I am not working or "mom-ing", I am working out and enjoying crossfit classes three to four times a week (yes, even during pregnancy!)."
