Myers, Pritchard to Attend US National Team Tryouts

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Katie Myers and Erika Pritchard will participate in the annual U.S. Women's National Team Tryouts this weekend, Feb. 21-23, at the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

This year's tryout will feature 214 athletes from 94 colleges competing for spots on the U.S. National Team and with the U.S. Collegiate National team program. The tryout will involve four sessions with three waves per session. Friday's first session goes from 2-8 p.m. MT, while Saturday's two sessions are at 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. The final session on Sunday begins at 7:30 a.m. MT with tournament style play, along with 16-18 athletes selected by the U.S. Women's National Team staff to participate in a "USA" training session. The Sunday session wraps up at 10:30 a.m. MT.

Myers, a rising redshirt junior, is coming off a sensational 2019 season in which she was named First Team All-Big Ten, First Team AVCA All-Region, and a VolleyballMag.com Honorable Mention All-American. Myers excelled in nearly every aspect of the game, ranking first on the team in hitting percentage (.395), aces/set (0.38), and blocks/set (1.29), all marks that ranked among the top five of the conference. Myers ranked first in the conference in blocks, second in aces, and fourth in hitting percentage (.395).

Pritchard, a rising senior, continued to excel on the outside, starting at outside hitter in all 32 matches, playing in all 127 sets. The Middletown, Md. native led the team with 417 kills (3.28/set), finished third on the team with 30 aces (0.24/set), and finished second on the team with 248 digs (1.95/set). Pritchard tallied double-digit kills in 27 matches, 20+ kills in three matches, and posted 10 double-doubles on the season. Pritchard is 345 kills away from being the all-time kill leader for the University of Maryland, while needing just 335.5 points to become the all-time scoring leader in program history.
