COLLEGE PARK, MD -- Missy Meharg notched her 600th win as head coach of the Maryland field hockey program as No. 8 Maryland (10-5) secured a 3-2 win over No. 17 UConn (8-7) on Sunday afternoon at the Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex.

Her career record is now 600-154-9 (.792). She has more wins than any coach at Maryland in any sport. With 600 wins, she is now the third Division I field hockey coach to reach the mark.

Belle Bressler's strike was sandwiched in between, coming in the 33rd minute. The defense was as good as its been all season with
Maura Verleg,
Rayne Wright, and
Riley Donnelly starring on the back end by not allowing a shot until late in the third quarter.Â
UConn scored twice in the final 5:00. Kourtney Kennedy scored with 4:51 to play off a penalty corner, then McKenna Sergi scored with 3:13 to play.
Missy Meharg's Take
"It's nice to have the alums here - we have a lot of them, like 40 or 50. We're celebrating a 10-year reunion team. What it means is the University, the region, the school, has been able to have the very best field hockey players choose the University of Maryland. I've been really fortunate to coach great athletes who love to win and they would tell you that winners win."
