Terps Set for Southern Scuffle

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The University of Maryland wrestling team has its first action of 2022 as it heads to Chattanooga, Tennessee, as participants in the renowned Southern Scuffle, presented by Compound Sportswear, hosted by the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga. Other programs attending the elite tournament include Penn State, Oklahoma State, Minnesota, North Carolina, and Stanford.
With pre-seeds released on New Years Eve, the Terps have two wrestlers among the top-eight at their weight class: Kyle Cochran (six-seed at 184-pounds) and Jaron Smith (eighth-seed at 197-pounds.)
Featuring many of the Terps' freshman, this will be one of the best opportunities yet to see the squad's eighth-ranked recruiting class.
