Terps Host #17 Rutgers Saturday

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland women's soccer team will be back at Ludwig Field for its third straight home game Saturday when the Terrapins host #17 Rutgers at 2 p.m.

The game will be streamed on Big Ten Network Plus. The Terps (0-4-1) are looking for their first win of the season after a narrow 3-2 loss to Indiana in their last time out on March 7.

RUTGERS STORYLINES

STAIER SHINES
  • Senior Sydney Staier put together one of her most productive weeks as a Terrapin last week, scoring her first goal of her career against Ohio State on March 4. She followed it up with an assist to tie the game at one vs. Indiana on March 7.

KEYERA FOR THE WYNN
  • Kerya Wynn now leads the Terps in scoring after totaling two goals the past four games. Wynn got her first of the season at Purdue, then had the game-tying strike in the 82nd minute against Indiana.

SERIES HISTORY
  • Maryland is 7-5-1 all-time against Rutgers, picking up a 2-1 upset win over the Scarlet Knights when the teams last met on September 28, 2019. Hope Lewandoski and Alyssa Poarch both tallied first half goals in the win, while the Terps withstood a second half charge from Rutgers to secure the win.

LEONE LADING THE TERPS
  • Ray Leone in his fifth season at the helm for Maryland, a season removed from leading Maryland to its best-ever finish in the B1G. UMD finished 9-8-3 in 2019 and earned a trip to the school's first-ever Big Ten Tournament. The Terps went 5-5-1 in league play to finish sixth in the conference, the highest for a Maryland team.
