#3 Maryland Heads to #13 Ohio State Saturday

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The third-ranked Maryland lacrosse team (4-0) is back in action this Saturday, March 20 when the Terps travel to face #13/14 Ohio State (2-2) in Columbus at noon.

The Terps remain undefeated after powering past then fourth-ranked Rutgers 19-12 last weekend thanks to an eight-goal fourth quarter and career-high six goals from Jared Bernhardt.

RUTGERS STORYLINES

SECOND HALF SURGING
  • Maryland has been a force in the second half of games this season, outscoring opponents 39-16 in the second half through four games for a +23 point differential. The Terps have been especially dominant in the third quarter, outscoring opponents 19-3.

WISNAUSKAS MAKES HISTORY
  • Senior Logan Wisnauskas is now Maryland's all-time leader in 8+ point games after a career-best 9-point (2G, 7A) outing against #20 Johns Hopkins. The senior has posted five games of 8+ points as a Terp, passing Bob Boneillo (4) for the most 8+ point games in program history. For his efforts, Wisnauskas was named the U.S. Lacrosse National Player of the Week, a USILA Team of the Week honoree and the Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week.

SERIES HISTORY
  • Maryland and Ohio State have played in tight games every meeting since the inception of Big Ten lacrosse, with all eight meetings since 2015 being decided by one goal or less. The last time the teams met on April 20, 2019, Jared Bernhardt scored the game-winner in overtime to clinch a 10-9 win for UMD. Maryland is 9-3 all-time vs. the Buckeyes.

  • Four players garnered weekly honors this week, with Jared Bernhardt being named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, Justin Shockey the B1G Specialist of the Week, Eric Malever the B1G Freshman of the Week, and Nick Grill being named to the USILA Team of the Week.

SHARING IS CARING
  • Maryland is sharing the ball as well as any team in the country in 2021, ranking third nationally with 11.625 assists per game. Leading the way is senior Logan Wisnauskas, whose 3.00 assists per game ranks sixth in the nation. 12 different Terps have recorded at least one assist this year.
