COLLEGE PARK, MD -Â The Maryland women's soccer team will return to competition this Sunday, September 19 when the Terrapins open up Big Ten competition against Ohio State.
The program will honor six members of its senior class, Emily McNesby, Loren Sefcik, Taylor Whitmer, Madison Oracion, Adalee Broadbent and Katie Krotee, in a pregame ceremony for their contributions to the program for its annual senior day celebration.
Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Ludwig Field and the game will be broadcast on Big Ten Network Plus. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â

CONFERENCE PLAY IS HERE TO STAY
- Maryland will be off in the midweek before kicking off its eighth season of Big Ten play since joining the conference in 2014.
- The Terps put together their best-ever finish in the conference just a few years ago, going 5-5-1 in B1G games in 2019 for a sixth-place finish. Maryland earned its first trip to the Big Ten Tournament that season. Â
- UMD's conference schedule is front-loaded with home games, playing its first three B1G matchups in the friendly confines of Ludwig Field against the Buckeyes, Nebraska (Sept. 23) and Northwestern (Sept. 26).

- Maryland captured its second comeback win of the season against George Washington on September 2, rallying from an early Colonial goal with two of its own in the first half before putting the game away with an insurance goal in the second half.
- Hope Lewandoski and Madison Oracion both netted their first goals of the season in the victory, while Emily McNesby got on the board for the second time this year.
- Olivia Reese shined in the win, assisting on two goals to notch her first points as a Terp. Oracion's goal was also the first of her UMD career. Â Â
- After falling behind 1-0 in the seventh minute of the game, Maryland rallied for its first comeback win of the season in a 2-1 victory over Richmond on August 26. Â
- Adalee Broadbent spearheaded the rally, launching a shot from 35 yards out over the goalkeeper's head to tie the game in the 68th minute. It marked the third goal in Broadbent's career and first since 2019.
- After Toni Domingos was taken down in the box in the 74th minute, Catherine DeRosa stepped to take the penalty where after a pause, she calmly buried the ball behind the goalie.

SERIES HISTORY
- Maryland will look for its first-ever win against Ohio State when the teams resume their head-to-head series on Sunday. The Buckeyes own a 7-0-2 edge in the series.
- The teams met twice during last season's Covid-19 shortened season, which included a 4-2 win for OSU in Maryland's final game of the spring on April 8.

Not Short of Scoring Options
- Maryland has had 10 different goal scorers through it first eight games, a testament to the plethora of scoring weapons on this year's roster.
- Alyssa Poarch and Emily McNesby lead the way with two goals and an assist, while eight other Terps have tallied a goal.
- Maryland's four game-winning goals have come from McNesby, Loren Sefcik, Kori Locksley and Catherine DeRosa.
- Freshman Mori Sokoloff joined the scoring party on Sept. 9 against Penn, scoring her first collegiate goal off a free kick 40 yards from the goal.

FIRST OT TESTs
- Maryland played its first overtime game of the 2021 season on Sept. 5, battling Saint Joseph's to a scoreless 0-0 draw in Philadelphia.
- Just four days later on Sept. 9, the Terps went the distance with Penn for another double overtime tie with the Quakers.
- UMD played in three OT games last season, posting a 0-1-2 record in those games. Â Â
