COLLEGE PARK, MD -Â The Maryland women's soccer team will hit the road for its first Big Ten road trip this weekend when the Terps travel to face Iowa and Illinois.
UMD will first face the Hawkeyes on Thursday, September 30 at 8Â p.m. EDT, before making the trip to Champaign, Illinois to battle the Illini at 1 pm (EDT) on Sunday, October 3. Â Â Â Â
Both games will be broadcast on Big Ten Plus.
 THIS WEEK'S STORYLINES
Terps Take Two Draws Last Weekend
- Maryland managed its first points of the conference season this past weekend, playing two double overtime draws against Nebraska (0-0) and Northwestern (1-1).
- Maryland's defense was impressive throughout both games, going 199 minutes without surrendering a goal before a late Wildcat score tied the game in the 90th minute Sunday.
- Loren Sefcik netted the lone goal for the Terps on the weekend, beating the keeper after Alyssa Poarch played a beautiful ball into the box to set up the play. Â

- Maryland recognized its Team Impact teammate Mikayla "KK" Hirsch before its game against Northwestern Sunday in a pregame graduation ceremony.
- KK, who was diagnosed with Crohn's disease in 2014, was officially signed to the Terps roster before the 2019 season and has been a mainstay on the sidelines of Ludwig Field supporting the Terps. Â
- Members of the Hirsch family joined players and coaches from both Maryland and Northwestern on the field to present KK with gifts and pose for photos.
- Team IMPACT is a national nonprofit headquartered in Boston, MA that connects children facing serious or chronic illnesses with college athletic teams, forming lifelong bonds and life-changing outcomes. Maryland Athletics has partnered with the organization for nearly a decade to match children with the school's varsity programs.

SERIES HISTORY
- Maryland is 2-4 all-time against the Hawkeyes, last facing Iowa this past spring where the Terps dropped a 1-0 heartbreaker in overtime.
- Maryland holds a 3-2-1 edge all-time vs. Illinois, facing the Illini for the first time since the 2019 season on Sunday. The Terps secured the program's most emphatic Big Ten win ever against Illinois on October 6, 2021, scoring six goals in a 6-2 rout. Â

Not Short of Scoring Options
- Maryland has had 10 different goal scorers through it first 11 games, a testament to the plethora of scoring weapons on this year's roster.
- Loren Sefcik, Alyssa Poarch, Emily McNesby and Kori Locksley lead the way with two goals, while six other Terps have tallied a goal.
- Maryland's four game-winning goals have come from McNesby, Loren Sefcik, Kori Locksley and Catherine DeRosa.
- Freshman Mori Sokoloff joined the scoring party on Sept. 9 against Penn, scoring her first collegiate goal off a free kick 40 yards from the goal.
Conference Play is Here to Stay
- Maryland is in the midst of its eighth season of Big Ten play since joining the conference in 2014.
- The Terps put together their best-ever finish in the conference just a few years ago, going 5-5-1 in B1G play for a sixth-place finish. Maryland earned its first trip to the Big Ten Tournament that season.Â
- After playing three home games to start off conference play, the Terps now enter a challenging stretch of three straight games on the road. Five of Maryland's final seven games will be road games.
