Owusu, Reese Named to Wooden Award Late Season Top 20 List

LOS ANGELES – Junior Ashley Owusu and sophomore Angel Reese of the Maryland women's basketball team were named to the John R. Wooden Award® presented by Wendy's® Late Season Top 20 Watch List Monday night on ESPNU, as announced by the Los Angeles Athletic Club.
 
Chosen by a poll of national college basketball experts based on their performances during the 2021-22 season thus far, the list comprises of 20 student-athletes who are front-runners for the sport's most prestigious honor.
 
Maryland is one of three schools to have multiple players on the list, along with South Carolina (Aliyah Boston and Destanni Henderson) and Stanford (Cameron Brink and Haley Jones). The Big Ten and SEC lead all conferences with five selections each on the Wooden Award Late Season Top 20.
 
Reese is leading the Terrapins (15-6, 7-3 B1G) in scoring with 17.2 points per game and in rebounding with 10.2 boards per game. Reese is No. 2 in the nation in offensive rebounds (5.2) and is No. 11 in double-doubles with 12 so far this season.
 
Owusu is averaging 14.9 points per game, 4.0 assists with an assist/turnover ratio of 1.65. She is also shooting 83 percent from the free throw line this season. Owusu reached the 1,000 career-points mark earlier this season and currently has 1,213 career points and 429 career assists.
 
Both Owusu and Reese were named to ESPNW's Midseason Top 25 Player Rankings, coming in at No. 10 and No. 12, respectively.
 
The Terrapins will play at Michigan State (11-8, 5-3) Thursday at 6 p.m. ET in East Lansing. The Terps-Spartans matchup will be televised on the Big Ten Network.
