Ten Terps Score In 20-12 Win Over Michigan

ANN ARBOR, MI — Luke Wierman won a faceoff in the second quarter and charged downfield. As he approached a few Michigan defenders, the Terps' faceoff specialist fired a shot toward the cage. And it hit.

It was the sixth score for Wierman, a winner of 19 faceoffs on Saturday. This one came in the midst of a 7-1 run for the No. 1 Terrapins, who improved to 9-0 with a dominant 20-12 victory over the Michigan Wolverines (7-4).

Ten different Terps scored in the big win, including hat tricks from Owen Murphy, Logan Wisnauskas, Jonathan Donville and Keegan Khan. John GeppertAnthony DeMaio, Eric Malever, Jack KorasRoman Puglise and Wierman also scored. Maryland's 20 goals are the most Michigan has allowed in a game this year, and it was the fifth time that head coach John Tillman's squad put more than 20 goals in a game this year.

Logan McNaney played most of the game between the pipes, where he made 12 saves.

Breaking Down The Action
  • The Wolverines opened the scoring just under three minutes into the action — only the second time this season where Maryland's opponent has scored first. Maryland responded with a man-up score from Keegan Khan.
  • The Terps went on a 7-1 run in the second quarter, including three goals in a 1:05 span. One of those was a FOGO goal by Luke Wierman — his sixth of the season.
  • Maryland came out firing in the second half, with John Geppert netting back-to-back goals over a 14-second span.
  • The Terps continued to outpace Michigan's scoring over the second half en route to a 20-12 victory.
Wisnauskas Watch
  • Fifth-year attackman Logan Wisnauskas inched closer to Jared Bernhardt's all-time-leading 290 points. He put up three goals and three assists to total six points and bring him to 288 in a Maryland uniform.
  • He has recorded a point in all of his 66 games as a Terp.
Hat Trick Terps
  • For the second straight week, at least three Terrapins recorded hat tricks.
  • Wisnauskas had his sixth in the nine games this season.
  • Owen Murphy led the way with four goals — the second time he scored that many this season.
  • Khan (3 goals, 3 assists) registered his third straight hat trick and his fourth of the season.
  • Donville netted three goals to collect his sixth hat trick of the year.
