COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The No. 1 Terps will play in the 2022 NCAA Championship Game on Monday, May 30 against No. 7-seed Cornell at 1 p.m at Rentschler Field at Pratt & Whitney Stadium.
Maryland advanced to the title game with a
13-8 victory over No.5-seed Princeton on Saturday night in East Hartford, Connecticut. Cornell moved forward with a 17-10 win over No. 6-seed Rutgers earlier on Saturday.Â
The Terps and Big Red have played six times in the NCAA Tournament with each team winning three. Maryland won the last meeting,
13-8, in the 2018 Quarterfinals.
Bubba Fairman led the Terps that day with five points (three goals, two assists) with
Anthony DeMaio and
Logan Wisnauskas scoring two goals apiece.Â
The Terps and Big Red played in the 1976 title game, the Big Red's last championship, as they beat the Terps, 16-13. Maryland head coachÂ
John Tillman played at Cornell under legendary coach Richie Moran, a former Maryland student-athlete himself.
Moran passed away in April. He was inducted into the Maryland Athletics Hall of Famer in 1991.

Maryland is seeking its 47th National Championship in all sports. Overall, eight different teams have won a title, with men's lacrosse winning 12 (three NCAA and nine USILA). The last Maryland team to win a title was women's lacrosse in 2019, when they won their sport-record 15th crown. In the 2000s, has won National Championships in seven sports including men's basketball (2002), women's basketball (2006), field hockey (2005, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2011), men's lacrosse (2017) women's lacrosse (2000, 2001, 2010, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2019), men's soccer (2005, 2008, 2018), and competitive cheer (2006, 2007, 2008, 2010).

NCAA NUMBERS
- This is Maryland's 44th appearance in program history, second-most of any program, and an NCAA-best 19th straight appearance.
- Maryland's first ever NCAA appearance came in 1971 when the Terps lost in the championship game to top-seeded Cornell and former Terp Richie Moran. Moran passed away in late April.
- In the team's 44 appearances the program is 69-40 all-time in the tournament with 28 Final Four trips and 16 Championship Games.
- Since 2011 under Coach Tillman, the Terps have made every tournament, gone 27-9, and earned nine Championship Weekend appearances.
- The Terps are the number one overall seed in the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time under Tillman (2016-17-18-22) and the ninth time in program history. Maryland is 21-6 all-time as the top seed, advancing to the semifinals on all nine occasions.
- Coach Tillman enters the Final Four with 159 victories at Maryland and 179 total. The three other coaches in this Final Four combine for 139 at their schools and 204 victories total.
- Maryland becomes the first team to reach back-to-back title games with an undefeated record since 1981-82 North Carolina. The Terps look to complete the fourth perfect season as Champions in the last 30 years (1997 Princeton, 2005 Johns Hopkins, and 2006 Virginia.)

- Fifth-year senior Logan Wisnauskas has established himself as one of the most dangerous offensive players in college lacrosse during his career with the Terps, and now leads the Maryland in his final year with the program. Here's a look at Wisnauskas by the numbers.

1 - Wearing the iconic "1" jersey, Wisnauskas averages more assists per game (2.35) and points per game (5.82) while wearing the jersey than any other to wearing the number for Maryland.
5 – Wisnauskas (203) is fifth all-time among all D1 players in goals, one behind the active leader in Gray of North Carolina (204).Â
8 – Wisnauskas has seven career eight-point games as a Terrapin – the most in program history – last posting eight (5G, 3A) in Maryland's dominating victory over Johns Hopkins
11 - Wisnauskas (336) is 11th all-time on the list of D1 players in points, and third among active players, 65 behind the active leader in Chris Gray of North Carolina (401)
19 - Wisnauskas became the 19th student-athlete, and first Terp, to ever reach 300 points in their career. He now sits 11th all-time.
40 - Wisnauskas has recorded 40 hat tricks in his career with 14 coming this season. His total passes Jared Bernhardt for most ever at Maryland.Â

- Maryland dominated the Big Ten Yearly Honors with four of the five yearly awards going to the Terps. Plus, the maximum of eight players found themselves on the All-Big Ten teams, including five on the top line. Those were all program record numbers.
- Among the yearly awards, Logan Wisnauskas was Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year, Brett Makar was Big Ten Defenive Player of the Year, Luke Wierman was Specialist of the Year, and Coach Tillman was unanimously Big Ten Coach of the Year.
- The First Team All-Big Ten featured Wisnauskas, Makar, Wierman, Keegan Khan, and Roman Puglise. On the second team was Jon Donville, Kyle Long, and John Geppert. With only eight players allowed per team, the Terps earned the maximum number of spots
- An incredible 12 total Terps were named Inside Lacrosse All-Americans on Sunday night. Five Terps (Wisnauskas, Puglise, Makar, Wierman, and Donville) were on the first team. Ajax Zappitello earned a spot on the third team while Kyle Long, John Geppert, Bubba Fairman, Jake Higgins, and John Geppert.Â
- Seven Terps were named USA Lacrosse Magazine All-Americans, with Wisnauskas and Puglise on the first team. Luke Wierman and Brett Makar are on the second team while Jonathan Donville was earned a spot on the third team. Logan McNaney and Matt Rahill were both honorable mentions.Â

- Maryland was ranked No. 1 in the country in both the USILA Coaches Poll and the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll this week for the 14th straight week. This was their sixth week as the unanimous selection.

Coaching Matchup
- John Tillman is in his 15th season as a head coach, and 12th with the Terps, with a 178-59 career record for a (.748) winning percentage. Tillman is 158-40 (.798) overall in Maryland with a 2-4 record against his alma mater, Cornell.
- Cornell Head Coach Connor Buczek is in his first season leading the program and has a 14-4 (.765) record both at the school and in his career.
