Maryland falls short in season opener at Wisconsin

MADISON, WI - The Maryland men's golf team finished in a two-way tie for 16th at the 2022 Badger Invitational on Tuesday in their season opener. The first day of the tournament was canceled due to inclement weather and, as a result, was reduced from a 54-hole event to a 36-hole event. Senior Will Koras led the Terrapins, finishing in a four-way for 16th, posting a score of 142 (71-71), at two under par.

The Terps played the par-72 - 7,286-yard Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed University Ridge Golf Course.

-Freshman Ronnie Kim finished in a four-way tie for 64th, posting (76-74) (+6)
-Senior Will Celiberti finished in a three-way for 78th, posting (77-77) (+10)
-Both sophomore Florian Huerlimann and senior Dillon Brown finished in a two-way for 87th, posting (81-79) and (79-81) respectively, finishing at (+16) for the tournament.

"This is certainly not the way we wanted to begin the season," said head coach John Phillips. "Will Koras had a strong start to his final campaign as a Terp with a T-16 finish. He beat a host of accomplished collegiate players, including the reigning U.S. Amateur champion."
