COLLEGE PARK, MDÂ --Â Maryland begins its final home stand of the regular season with a Thursday night match with No. 21 Wisconsin. The Terrapins will look to get their first-ever win over Wisconsin. A win by the Terrapins will also be their first win against a ranked opponent since Sept. 28, 2019, when Terrapins defeated No. 20 Rutgers 2-1. The last home ranked-win for the Terrapins came on Oct. 7, 2018 in a 2-1 win over Northwestern.

The Terps are coming off a loss in their final road game of the regular season against Iowa. Liz Beardsley once again had five saves in the match and is now up to 60 on the campaign.
Series History - Wisconsin
- The Terrapins and the Badgers have met seven times, with each meeting taking place since the Terps joined the Big Ten in 2014.
- The Badgers hold a 5-0-2 record all-time against the Terrapins. The two teams last met during the 2022 season in Madison, with No. 23 Wisconsin winning a close game 2-1.
- Alina Stahl would start the scoring early, putting the Terrapins up 1-0 in the 10th minute. The Badgers would add a pair of goals in the second half to take the 2-1 advantage.
- The Terrapins created opportunities over the final 20 minutes to get the equalizer. The best opportunity came in the 88th minute off a corner kick, but the Terrapins were not able to get the ball in the back of the net.
Alina Stahl began the scoring in the last match against the Badgers last season. Stahl had another chance later in the game to even the game later in the match in the 88th minute, but wasn't able to get the ball in the back of the net.
Last Time Out
- The Terrapins faced Iowa in their final road match of the regular season. The Terrapins played in a very physical game, but came out on the wrong side in a 5-0 defeat.
- Liz Beardsley once again made five saves in the match and now has 60 on the season, and did her part to keep the visiting Terps in the match throughout the game.
- Ava Morales got a great chance to get the Terps on the board just after halftime in the 47th minute. Morales fired the shot at goal, but it clanged off the crossbar.
- The Terps created another opportunity to get on the scoresheet in the 77th minute. Catherine DeRosa found space in the area, but her shot was just saved by the Iowa goalkeeper.
Ava Morales created the best chance for the Terrapins in their match against Iowa. Morales got the chance just after halftime, but her effort clanged off the crossbar.
Scouting the Badgers
- The Badgers come into the match with a 10-3-3 record overall and a 5-2-1 record in the Big Ten. The Badgers went 1-1 this past week, with a 1-0 win on the road against Illinois followed by a 1-0 loss at home to Ohio State.
- The Badgers are led in goals by Emma Jaskaniec, who comes into the match with seven goals. Jaskaniec's seven goals rank as the eighth-most in the conference. Jaskaniec is tied for the team lead in assists with Aryssa Mahrt with four, which gives Jaskaniec 18 points on the season which ranks seventh in the Big Ten.
- In goal, the Badgers are led by Erin McKinney. McKinney has 45 saves on the year, for a save percentage of .804. McKinney has only allowed 11 goals in 2023, which gives grad student a GAA of .74 that ranks seventh in the Big Ten.
1,000 Minute Club
- The Terrapins have eight players this year that have played over 1,000 minutes for the team. The leader in the clubhouse is goalkeeper Liz Beardsley, who has been on the field every minute for the team. Beardsley currently has played 1,440 minutes, which is a career high for the junior goalkeeper.
- Four Terrapin defenders have played over 1,000 minutes for the team, showing their importance to a defense that has six shutouts on the season. Junior Katie Coyle has also been impossible to take off the field for the team, sitting at 1,384 minutes played (96% of total minutes) through 16 games this year. UMBC transfer Caroline Koutsos is the next defender with 1,000 minutes played, with 1,381 minutes on the pitch (95% of total minutes). Freshman Kennedy Bell has played the most of any freshman on the year, playing a total of 1,373 minutes on the pitch (94% of total minutes). Bell, the No. 34-ranked prospect in the nation by TopDrawer Soccer. The new member of the 1,000 minute club in the Terrapins defense is Santa Clara transfer Eden White. The senior defender has played a total of 1,016 minutes during the season (71% of total minutes).
- Caroline DeRosa is the first member of the midfield to be a part of the 1,000 minute club this year. The senior midfielder has been a mainstay in the middle of the park for the team this year, evident by her 1,218 minutes of game action (85% of total minutes). DeRosa has two goals on the year, which ties her career-high for goals in a season. Lauren Wrigley is the second midfielder on the list. The junior transfer from North Carolina, has been on the field for 1,100 minutes (76% of total minutes.
- Peyton Bernard joins Kennedy Bell as the only two freshmen in the 1,000 minute club. The forward has been on the pitch for 1,103 minutes (77% of total minutes) and leads the team with two assists this year.
Defensive Clinic In College Park
- The Terrapins have held six shutouts this season, which ties the most shutouts for the team since they moved to the Big Ten in 2014. The Terps have had two previous seasons where they had six shutouts in a season since joining the conference, coming in 2014 and 2019.
- Liz Beardsley has been in goal for all six shutouts this season, making her the first Terrapins goalkeeper to have six shutouts in a season since Erin Seppi in 2019. The other goalkeeper to accomplish this feat since moving into the Big Ten was Rachelle Beanlands, who did it in Maryland's inaugural season in the conference in 2014.
- Beardsley's six shutouts in 2023 are tied for the eighth-most in a single season for a Maryland goalkeeper, as the junior keeper has put together a tremendous season

Liz Beardsley has six shutouts on the season, which makes the junior the first Maryland goalkeeper with six shutouts in a single season since Erin Seppi in 2019. That number also ties the most for a Maryland goalkeeper since the program moved to the Big Ten in 2014
