The Terps are coming off a loss on Sunday against No. 22 Michigan. The Terps had long stretches in the match where they were the positive team, but couldn't get the ball in the back of the net. Liz Beardsley had yet another busy day on the pitch, with the goalkeeper making seven saves.
Series History - RUTGERS
- The Terrapins and the Scarlet Knights have played in 15 matches in the series, with the series tied all-time at a record of 7-7-2.
- The last win for the Terps against the Scarlet Knights came in 2019, when they defeated No. 20 Rutgers on the road by a score of 2-1. That win for the Terps was also the team's last win over a ranked program.
- Alyssa Poarch and Hope Lewandoski got on the score sheet in the win for the Terps back in 2019. Both goals came in the first half, with Poarch scoring in the 23rd minute and Lewandoski scoring in the 35th minute. Erin Seppi patrolled the net for the Terps, stopping five shots in the game.

- The Terrapins finished their two-game road trip with a meeting with Michigan on Sunday, Oct. 1. The Terps battled throughout the match, but couldn't get on the scoreboard and picked up the loss.
- Liz Beardsley had seven saves in the match, bringing her overall total for the year to 46.
- The first chance for the Terps came in the 6th minute, when Peyton Bernard fired a shot at goal that went wide of the target.
- Ava Morales had the next positive chance for the Terps in the 33rd minute, but her long shot was saved by the keeper. Kennedy Bell broke into space in the 70th minute and sent a shot at the near post, but the Michigan goalkeeper was just able to get a hand on the shot.
Beardsley had another busy afternoon for the Terps in their last match. The junior goalkeeper made seven saves in the match, bringing her total saves this year to 46.
Scouting the Scarlet Knights
- The Scarlet Knights come into this matchup after a 2-2 draw against Nebraska on Sept. 28 and a 1-0 loss to Iowa on Oct. 1. The Scarlet Knights have a record of 5-5-3 overall and their 1-3-1 in the Big Ten is tied for 10th in the conference standings.
- Allison Lowrey leads Rutgers with six goals on the season, which is tied for fifth in the Big Ten. The senior forward is also second on the team with three assists on the year giving Lowrey 15 points this season. Riley Tiernan leads Rutgers in assists with four, and pairs that with two goals this season to give the junior eight points.
- In goal for Rutgers is Olivia Bodmer, who comes into the match with 48 saves and a GAA of 0.95. Bodmer's 48 saves are tied for the third-most in the Big Ten. Bodmer averages 3.69 saves per game, which is also tied for third in the conference.
Former Scarlet KNIGHTS LEAD TERPS
- Head coach Meghan Ryan Nemzer and assistant coach Kenie Wright were both former women's soccer players at Rutgers. Coach Nemzer also was an assistant coach with the Scarlet Knights from 2008-14 and Associate Head Coach from 2014-21.
- As a player, Nemzer was a two-time Big East Academic All-Star, a three-time Defensive Player of the Week, an Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Defensive Player of the Week, and a Soccerbuzz Elite Team of the Week honoree. After her junior year, Nemzer was named Second Team All-Mid-Atlantic Region by Soccerbuzz magazine and received All-BIG EAST Honorable Mention honors following her senior season.
- Rutgers earned trips to the NCAA Tournament 12 times in Nemzer's 14 years on staff with two appearances in the College Cup. Throughout Nemzer's coaching tenure with the Scarlet Knights, the program produced eight MAC Hermann Trophy candidate selections, 13 United Soccer Coaches (formerly NSCAA) All-American selections, 35 United Soccer Coaches All-Region honorees, 34 All-Big Ten selections, including 14 first-team honorees.
- While playing at Rutgers, Wright was a 2018 All-Big Ten Second Team selection. In 2018, Wright was also named All-Region Third Team, Academic All-Big Ten, and received the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award. During Wright's freshman season in 2015, she was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team. Following her senior season, Wright was drafted 29th overall by Sky Blue FC in the 2019 NWSL Draft.
Head coach
Meghan Ryan Nemzer is in year two as the head coach of the Mary;and women's soccer team. Before coming to College Park, Nemzer was an assistant coach at Rutgers from 2008-14 and an Associate Head Coach from 2014-21. Nemzer helped lead the Scarlet Knights to 12 NCAA Tournament appearances in her 14 years on staff and two College Cup appearances. Nemzer also played collegiate soccer for the Scarlet Knights from 2004-07.
