Hope Rose and
Rayne Wright prepare for the FIH Women's Junior World Cup, beginning on Wednesday, November 29 in Santiago, Chile. The trio were selected to the U.S. U-21 Women's National Team in August.
The Women's National Team qualified for the World Cup after a first place finish in the Junior Pan American Championship, earlier this year. Hollamon, Rose and Wright were all on the gold medal-winning roster at the JPAC in April.
Hollamon earned Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week and Big Ten All-Tournament Team She started in all 23 games for the Terps, totalling over 1,200 minutes of action on the back line. The freshman finished the season with 12 points, from four goals and four assists.
Rose earned the second highest point total with 28, from 13 goals and two assists. She scored her first career hat-trick against Miami (OH). The Dauphin, Pennsylvania, native was named All-Big Ten First Team for her performance during the regular season.
Wright, a senior captain, was an irreplaceable member of the Terps' back line all season. She helped shutdown some of the nation's best offensive players across the Big Ten and in highly ranked non-conference opponents, earning All-Big Ten First Team.Â
The Junior Eagles are slotted in Pool D, along with Japan, England and New Zealand. The U.S. will open competition against Japan on Thursday, November 30 at 10 a.m. They will then face England on Friday, December 1 at 4:30 p.m., followed by New Zealand on Sunday, December 3 at 10 a.m.
