The University of Maryland softball team will head down south to Chapel Hill, N.C for the ACC/Big Ten Challenge this weekend. The Terps will kick off the weekend with a pair of games against Virginia and will conclude the weekend with a pair of games against North Carolina. Both games against North Carolina will be streamed on ACCNX.
 THIS WEEK'S STORYLINES
scouting the foes
- Â Virginia opened up their 2023 season at the University of Houston Tournament with a record of 4-1, including victories over Lamar, Houston and Sam Houston State
- The Cavaliers finished the 2022 season with a 28-26 record and 13-11 record in conference play. Virginia's season came to an end in the National Invitational Softball Championship
- North Carolina also began their 2023 season in the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The Tar Heels went 2-2 on the weekend with victories over California Baptist and BYU.

looking back to last weekend
- The Terps opened up their 2023 season at the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
- Maryland finished the weekend with a 4-1 weekend, including wins over No. 3 Oklahoma State and No. 22 Oregon
- This marks the first time the Terps have picked up a victory over a Top-3 team since 2017
- The 4-1 start marks the program's best start since the 2012 season
