COLLEGE PARK, MD - No. 11 Maryland will play its first midweek home game of the season as the Terps host William & Mary on Wednesday, March 8 at 5:00 p.m. The game will air on Big Ten Plus.
Where we are
- The Terps are 1-2 in their last three games, losing two heartbreakers by the same score, 8-7, to No. 9 Denver and No. 12 James Madison
- Prior to that, the Terps beat No. 7 Florida, which saw Victoria Hensh score with 17 seconds left in regulation to give the Terps the win. Hensh scored three of her career-best four goals in the decisive fourth quarter as the Terps rallied from a 10-8 deficit in the fourth quarter. Libby May led the Terps with six goals.
- Libby May was named the IWLCA Offensive National Player of the Week after scoring six goals in back-to-back games against Drexel and No. 7 Florida. She was also named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, while Shaylan Ahearn was named the Big Ten Midfeilder of the Week after winning 20 draw controls over the two games.
- Maryland is led by reigning IWLCA National Goaltender of the Year Emily Sterling and Big Ten Defender of the Year Abby Bosco as well as two-time All-American attacker Hannah Leubecker and a plethora of All-Big Ten performers: midfielder Shaylan Ahearn, attacker Libby May and defender Maddie Sanchez.
- The Terps are coming off a season where they won both the Big Ten Regular Season and Tournament Championships and made their 12th Final Four in 13 seasons. Maryland finished the 2022 season with a 19-2 record.
50th Season of maryland women's lacrosse
- The 2023 season will be the 50th season of Maryland women's lacrosse, a program that has been the most successful in the entire sport since its start.
- Maryland has won 15 national championships and 31 conference championships. The Terps have participated in 28 Final Fours, including 12 of the last 13 and have won 12 of the last 28 national championships, including seven-straight from 1995-2001. Maryland has an all-time program record of 762-153-3 through 49 seasons.

- Maryland is 160-6 at home under head coach Cathy Reese, with nine undefeated home campaigns in the last 11 seasons (2013, '14, '15, '16, '17, '18, '19, '21).
- Last time the Terps played in SECU Stadium (2019), Maryland went 11-0, including wins over No. 3 North Carolina, No. 4 Syracuse, No. 7 Michigan and No. 8 Penn.
- The Terps have never lost a conference home game under Reese, going undefeated in each of her 16 seasons.

- In last week's game against Drexel, Shaylan Ahearn became only the sixth Terp in program history to surpass the 200 career draw control mark with 14. In the Terps game at #7 Florida, Ahearn past Dana Dobbie (2007-08) to move into fifth all-time in career draw controls at Maryland. Ahearn is now 38 draw controls behind Karri Ellen Johnson (2008-12) for fourth all-time in program history.
- Ahearn tallied 115 draw controls last season, the eighth-most in a single season in program history.
new additions
- Reese and the Terps added one of the top transfers out of the portal for the 2023 season in 2022 Ivy League Defender of the Year Marge Donovan. The grad student was the Ivy League Defender of the Year, a Third Team IWLCA All-American, a First-Team All-Ivy selection and the Ivy League Tournament Most Outstanding Player in 2022 as she graduated as Princeton's all-time leader in career draw controls (214) and draws in a season (112 in 2022).
- Maryland also welcomes the nation's top freshmen class, highlighted by the No. 1 recruit in the 2022 Class, midfielder Kori Edmondson. The class also features top-10 ranked signees Jaylen Rosga and Maggie Weisman.

- Head Coach Cathy Reese enters her 17th season at the helm of Maryland women's lacrosse. The winningest coach in program history, Reese is 305-37 as head coach and has led the Terps to five National Championships, 12 Final Fours and 22 Conference Championships.
- Maryland is 160-6 at home under Reese, with nine undefeated home campaigns in the last 11 seasons (2013, '14, '15, '16, '17, '18, '19, '21).
history vs. william & Mary
- The Terps hold a 28-6 advantage all-time and have won 21 in a row with the Tribes last win coming in 1989.
- Last year, the Terps won at William & Mary, 19-7 behind eight points (three goals, five assists) from Aurora Coridngley and Emily Sterling recording nine saves and only allowing five goals. Hannah Leubecker and Libby May each had four goals in the win.
- William & Mary head coach Colleen Dawson played at Maryland from 2008-11, helping the Terps to three consecutive ACC Championships and the 2010 NCAA Championship. The scholar-athlete also excelled in the classroom, where she earned ACC Student-Athlete Honor Roll recognition and was a member of the Leadership Group.
- William & Mary assistant coach Theo Kwas played at Maryland from 2014-17, helping the Terps win three National Championships (2014, 2015 & 2017)
