COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Maryland softball interim head coach
Laura Heberling announced three additions to the Terrapin roster for the upcoming 2023-24 season. Sam Bean (Rockwall, Texas / Lamar), Bri Godfrey (Deerfield Beach, Fla. / Marshall) and Diamond Williams (Augusta, Ga. / Coastal Carolina) have all committed to transfer to Maryland.
"Bri, Diamond, and Sam bring experience to the program and will contribute to our team's success in the classroom, weightroom, locker room and on the field," said Heberling. "We are excited each of them chose to finish their careers at Maryland and look forward to their arrival on campus. Go Terps!"

As a junior (2023): Earned Southland Conference All-Academic First Team honors… Appeared and started all 56 games…Batted .309 with 50 hits, 33 runs scored, 21 RBI, 13 doubles, and six homers…Recorded four hits, including three doubles against Rider (3/3/23)…Tripled against UTSA (2/17/23)…Homered twice against Abilene Christian (2/17/23).
As a sophomore (2022): Appeared and started all 49 games... Recorded 37 hits, nine doubles, one triple, and two homers... Set a season high three hits, including a home run and four runs scored at Abilene Christian (4/9)...Made her Cardinal debut and got her first hit against Memphis (2/10)
As a freshman at UAB (2021): Appeared in 66 games, making 59 starts...Primary position was third base, but also played catcher and was a designated hitter...2021 season included 28 hits, 5 doubles, 16 RBIs, 15 walks, and 14 runs...Recorded an on-base percentage of .350 and was hit-by-pitch five times...Two-time recipient of Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Medal....Named to the 2020 Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll.Â
High School: Recorded 121 RBI, 133 hits and eight home runs during her career...Produced a .510 batting average her senior season with an .810 slugging percentage.

As a freshman (2023): Played in 40 games, startin in 29…Made a late season surge, coming up huge in the Sun Belt Tournament semifinal, earning All-Tournament Team ... Drove in first two runs batted in the final regular season game with a two-RBI triple against Georgia Southern (May 6) ... Had a season-high three hits in the semifinal against South Alabama (May 12), scoring a run and driving in the go-ahead run in the 6th ... was named to the Sun Belt Conference All-Tournament Team… Finished with 19 hits on the year and a perfect 8-8 in stolen bases ... Additionally, made 13 appearances in the circle, with one start, earning five wins ... Pitched a season-high five innings in her start against Bellarmine, striking out four in the win ... Finished with a 2.07 ERA in 27 innings pitched.
High School: Attended Coral Springs Charter High School in Deerfield Beach, Fla… 4x All-State, 4x Miami Herald All-County, the 2019 5A Pitcher of the Year, and the 2021 Sun Sentinel and Miami Herald 2A-4A Pitcher of the Year....Compiled a stellar high school career pitching over 50 wins in the circle...Hit nearly .500 for high school career …Played travel ball with Tampa Mustangs for Coach T.J. As a senior (2023): Led the team in runs (44), hits (60), home runs (13), RBIs (46), and total bases (110)...Recorded 16 multi-hit games and 14 multi-RBI games… Hammered seven leadoff home runs on the season, three of which came in the first inning… Finished fifth in the Sun Belt in home runs, seventh in runs scored, eighth in RBIs, ninth in hits, and 10th in on-base and slugging percentage… Scored two runs in her debut for Coastal against UMass Lowell (Feb. 9)... Went 2-for-2, hitting a triple and driving in four RBIs versus UMass Lowell (Feb.9)... Recorded eight RBIs and scored seven runs over the course of five games at the Battle at the Beach event (Feb. 17-19)... Went 2-for-3, recording four RBIs and two runs in CCU's 11-2 victory versus Colgate (Feb. 17)... Set a career-high scoring three runs versus Drexel (Feb. 18)... Went 3-for-4, smashing one home run while scoring three runs and driving in four RBIs in CCU's 6-1 win versus Mount St. Mary's (Feb. 26)... Williams went a perfect 4-for-4 for the first time in her career against Middle Tennessee (March 3) recording a career-high of two home runs in one game… Hammered three home runs, scoring three runs and driving in four RBIs at the Spring Games event in Madeira, Fla (March 3-5)... Went a perfect 3-for-3, crushing a two-run home run and stealing one base in CCU's 5-2 victory over Canisius (March 11)... Smashed a home run to left-center field in CCU's 3-0 win versus Campbell (March 8)... Went a perfect 4-for-4 for the second time in the season and recorded a home run, RBI double, and a two-run single to help give the Chants an 11-3 victory over Georgia State (March 25)... Williams crushed two home runs versus Troy (April 6).
As a junior at Mercer (2022): Named to the All-SoCon second team… Led the team in doubles (11), home runs (5), RBIs (33), total bases (72), and slugging percentage (.514)... Had a .314 batting average and a .386 on-base percentage… Had 245 putouts and 11 assists in the field defensively… Recorded two doubles and one RBI against Furman (April 10)... Recorded a season-best four RBIs and hit a home run against East Tennessee State (April 24)
As a sophomore at Mercer (2021): Played in 25 games, starting in 13 contests on the season… Finished the year with a .265 batting average… Had a .321 on-base percentage and scored nine runs… Had five doubles, two home runs, and 14 RBIs during the season.
As a freshman at Mercer (2020): Played in 20 games, starting 10 contests as a true freshman… Went 10-for-37 (.290) at the plate with five doubles and four RBIs… Went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs batted in and scored one run in her collegiate debut versus Wright State (Feb. 7)... Recorded doubles against both Bryant and Georgia State (Feb. 22), going 2-for-3 with two runs scored in those games… Had 10 putouts against Murray State (Feb. 8).
High School: Co-Region Player of the Year (2016)... A four-time all-region first-team selection… Tabbed the All-Area Softball Player of the Year… Made the Georgia All-Star team… Also named the CSRA Female Athlete of the Year (2019)... Ranked No. 5 as a first baseball and top 30 for outfield on Scout Sports (2017)...
