Terps Win Fifth Straight, Beat FAU In Straight Sets

Box Score FORT MYERS, FL — The University of Maryland volleyball team (9-2) continued its season-best five-match winning streak, conquering FAU, 3-0 (25-22, 25-17, 25-22), Saturday afternoon in the Terps' second match of the Hilton Garden Inn FGCU Classic at Alico Arena in Fort Myers, FL. Adam Hughes' squad ended the third set on a 6-0 run to secure the sweep.

Maryland's offense continued its strong non-conference production, hitting .308 as the Terps hit over .300 in three consecutive matches for the first time in the Adam Hughes era (since 2018). Sophomore outside hitter Laila Ivey powered the offense with 11 kills, while four other Terps pitched in at least five kills.

The Terps excelled late in sets, as Maryland utilized a late 5-1 run to pull away in the first set and overcame a 22-19 deficit in the third set by embarking on a 6-0 run featuring three blocks to secure the match.

With a five-match winning streak, the Terrapins have compiled their longest winning streak since 2021, when Maryland opened the campaign with 13 consecutive victories. Additionally, the team's four consecutive sweep victories is the program's longest such streak since that 2021 win streak, as the Terps swept seven consecutive matches in that stretch.
