COLLEGE PARK, MD -- Former Maryland pitcher
Courtney Wyche signed a professional contract with the New York Rise on Friday.
Courtney Wyche earned All-Big Ten Second Team honors this past season and was the leader of the Maryland pitching staff. She finished the season 13-15 with a 3.63 ERA. Wyche led the team in innings pitched this season with 183.2 and strikeouts with 243. Wyche finished the season first in the Big Ten and fourth in the NCAA in strikeouts and would also be named to the 2024 NFCA All-Midwest Third Team.
Wyche would finish her career with 54 wins which is fourth all-time in school history and 668 career strikeouts which ranks third all-time in program history.
The New York Rise softball is a professional fastpitch team that is competing in their first season in 2024. For the summer of 2024, New York Rise will participate in regular season games as an independent team in the Association of Fastpitch Professionals and will compete in the Champion Cup at the end of July 2024.
The AFP season officially opens June 19.
