COLLEGE PARK, MDÂ --Â Maryland returns home to close out non conference play as it hosts VCU. The Terrapins will also honor their senior class for Senior Day. The two teams played to a 0-0 draw last season in Richmond.

The Terrapins finished its third consecutive road non conference game on Thursday as they drew 1-1 with Towson. Taryn Raibon scored for the second-straight game, giving the Terps the lead in the 22nd minute. The assist came from Kennedy Bell, which was her first assist on the season. The Terps held the lead until the 48th minute, when Towson tied the game at 1-1. Maryland out-shot Towson 11-8 in the game and had four corners to Towson's one.
Series History - VCU
- The Terrapins and the Rams are only meeting for the third time in the all-time series. This is the second-straight season the two programs have faced each other, after an over 20 year hiatus between match-ups.
- In last season's game, both defenses kept the offenses off the board in a 0-0 draw. The Terps held the shot advantage at 14-10 in the game. The Terps had a couple of crucial chances in the second half in the attacking third, but either couldn't direct their shots on target or had them batted away by the Rams' keeper. Liz Beardsley made three saves in the game en route to her second shutout of the season.

Senior Day
- Maryland's game against VCU will also serve as the team's Senior Day. Six senior Terps will be honored: Liz Beardsley, Katie Coyle, Halle Johnson, Kat Parris, Brooke Tracey, and Lauren Wrigley. All six players will be recognized in a pregame ceremony at midfield just before kickoff.
- All four of Maryland's captains will be honored on Senior Day. Beardsley, Coyle, Johnson, and Wrigley have been key leaders for the team since they arrived on campus.
Olimpico!
- Emily Lenhard got on the scoresheet in a big way in Maryland's 1-1 draw with James Madison on Aug. 25. Lenhard took a corner for the Terrapins in the 83rd minute, scoring from the corner spot for an Olimpico. The goal was the first of her collegiate career, and came on her lone shot of the game.
- Lenhard has played in seven games and made six starts for the Terps in 2024. Lenhard is tied for second on the team lead with two goals. The first year player from Stafford, Virginia is fourth on the team in minutes played with 529, and is averaging 76 minutes played across the seven games.
Dishing Out The Assists
- Maryland has six assists on the season, and are led by a pair of players who each have two assists. Ava Morales and Emily Lenhard both have two assists through the team's first seven games.
- Lenhard picked up two assists in Maryland's most recent game against George Mason, which is the first time in almost two years that a Maryland women's soccer player picked up two assists in a game. The last player to accomplish the feat was Catherine DeRosa, who had two assists back on September 4, 2022 against George Mason.
- Ava Morales picked up her first collegiate assist this season, coming Maryland's 2-0 season-opening win over Lehigh. Morales picked up her second assist of the campaign against Stony Brook back on August 18.
Ava Morales is tied for the team lead with two assists. Morales' first assist of the season came in the season-opener against Lehigh, which was also her first collegiate assist.
Going Back-To-Back
- With her 22nd minute goal against Towson on Thursday, Taryn Raibon scored in consecutive games for the Terps. The goal also tied her with Kelsey Smith for the team lead.
- The last time a Terp scored in consecutive games was last season, when Ava Morales scored in third-straight games. Morales' streak last season Sept. 3 against Towson, and continued with goals against George Mason (Sept. 7, 2023) and at Binghamton (Sept. 10, 2023).
Taryn Raibon has scored in back-to-back games for the Terps. This marks the second season in a row that a Terps player has scored in consecutive games.
Scouting the Rams
- VCU comes into the game with a record of 0-5. In its last game, VCU lost at home to No. 4 Virginia 1-0. The game was a stalemate for most of the action, but in the 77th minute, Virginia got on the scoresheet. The Rams held the Cavaliers to just one shot in the first half. Goalkeeper Allison Karpovich made three crucial saves in the second half to keep the Rams in the game.
- Kanna Matsuhisa leads the team with two goals on the season. Matsuhisa is also tied with Milica Bulatovic for the team lead with one assist. Kendyl Sarver follows Matsuhisa with one goal so far this season.
- Karpovich leads the Rams in goal, having played in all five games in 2024. Karpovich has made 19 saves on the year, which is the sixth-most in the Atlantic 10. Karpovich made 45 stops a season ago and had a GAA of 1.07. Karpovich's 1.07 GAA was the sixth-best mark in the A10 in 2023.
