COLLEGE PARK, Md.- The University of Maryland men's tennis team lost to No. 6 Duke today by a score of 6-0. The Blue Devils swept the six singles matches, and no doubles matches were played. The Terps host their final home match of the season tomorrow when they host No. 16 North Carolina.
Junior Larry Chou (Rockville, Md.) opened the match, facing Andres Pedroso at the No. 1 spot. Pedroso defeated Chou by a score of 6-1, 6-0. Sophomore Jon Murchison (Orchard Park, N.Y.) returned to the lineup this afternoon in the No. 3 position, facing Marko Cerenko. Cerenko won the match, 6-2, 6-0. Juniors Luan Nguyen (Tumun, Guam) and Dan Kenshalo (Gaithersburg, Md.) closed out today's competition. Nguyen was defeated by Yorke Allen, 6-3, 6-1, and Kenshalo lost to Ted Rueger by a score of 6-1, 6-2.
The Terps will host their second ACC match of the weekend tomorrow, when they face No. 16 North Carolina. The Tar Heels' 11-match win streak was snapped last week by the Blue Devils. Sunday's match will begin at 11 a.m., and will be played on the Cole Field House Tennis Courts.
