• Key run: Tied 2-2, Maryland scored 22 straight points to lengthen the Terrapins’ lead to 24-2 with 12:30 remaining in the first half.
• Four Terps broke the 10-point mark in the season opener: Lauren Mincy (15), Diandra Tchatchouang (11), Lynetta Kizer (11) and Alyssa Thomas (10).
• Maryland won the battle on the boards, out-rebounding the Hawks, 50-31.
• The Terps recorded 12 assists to Monmouth’s nine.
Individual Game Notes
· In her first regular season game of her career, freshman Lauren Mincy led the Terps offense with 15 points, three rebounds and one steal. Mincy went a perfect 5 for 5 from the free-throw line and 4 for 6 from the field.
· Junior Lynetta Kizer opened the regular season strong with 11 points and six total rebounds.
· Sophomore Diandra Tchatchouang scored 11 points on 4 for 9 shooting, while recording three rebounds and three steals.
· Freshman Alyssa Thomas made a strong debut by scoring 10 points on 4 for 8 shooting. Thomas also brought in six rebounds, made three steals and dished out one assist.
· Sophomore Tianna Hawkins recorded nine points and led the Terps with a team-high seven rebounds. Hawkins also recorded one of Maryland’s six blocked shots.
