“This is such a surprise and an honor,” Jones said. “It's amazing to be in the same company as the other players up there. I just want to thank my family and my teammates and coaches that have helped me along the way.”
“When we found out today, I was so shocked,” Walker-Kimbrough said. “I can't even put into words how much this means to me and to be with the great players in the rafters. I just can't thank all of my family and teammates and people along the way that have been there for me and supported me.”
Both Jones and Walker-Kimbrough have played in all 129 career games. Walker-Kimbrough has scored in double figures in 100 games and Jones has notched 47 double-doubles, including 14 this year. They were both named to the Wooden, Naismith, Wade and Ann Myers Drysdale Watch Lists for national player of the year this season.
"Two Final Fours, four Big Ten titles - all these two know how to do is win,” head coach Brenda Frese said. “Their championship mentality is felt by all and it trickles down through our entire program. What people should know when they look up at those names and numbers is all the incredible, humble work and devotion that took place to achieve all they have so far. I can't think of a better way to celebrate and honor their impact than raising their names and numbers into the rafters on Senior Day.”
Walker-Kimbrough was named Most Outstanding Player of the Spokane Regional as she led the Terrapins to the 2015 Final Four. She was also named Big Ten Tournament MVP in 2015.
