Game 10 - Regional title game (A)
TUCSON, Ariz. -The Arizona Wildcats stayed alive and forced a second
championship game by whipping Maryland, 10-0, in five innings.
Jennie Finch, who threw a no-hitter Friday and a one-hitter Saturday,
limited the Terps to a first-inning double by Jennifer Potzman and a
second-inning single by Sarah Putnam. She struck out nine and walked three.
Meantime, the Cats banged out nine hits.
Nicole Giordano led off the first with a single and was tripled home by
Toni Mascarenas to start UA's scoring.
The Cats added four more in the second on an RBI single by Nicole
Giordano, a two-run double by Lauren Bauer and a sacrifice fly by Mascarenas.
UA kept it up in the third, pushing four runs across with three hits, a
bases-loaded walk by Giordano and a sacrifice fly by Bauer. Lindsey Collins
scored on a double steal and Chrissy Gil drove in the other run with a
single to left.
In the fourth, Collins led off with a double and an out later was tripled
home by Katie Swan to finish the scoring.
