COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Gymnast Gillian Cote (Fredericksburg, Va.) and men's lacrosse player Mike Mollot (Holbrook, N.Y.) have been named student-athletes of the week by the Maryland Department of Athletics for the week March 13-17.

Cote, a sophomore, broke the school record in the all-around with a score of 39.625 in the Terps' final home meet of the season last Friday against Temple. The previous school record was 39.500 held by teammate Laura Moon. Cote was instrumental in leading the Terps to their highest team score in school history of 197.125, the previous record was 195.950. On the uneven bars Cote tied for first with a mark of 9.925, which marked a career high. Additionally she took first in the floor exercise with a score of 9.975.

Cote has dominated the all-around this season. She has earned first place in the event in five of the Terps' 12 meets, and holds the school record in two other events. Cote holds the record on vault with a 9.875, and on the uneven bars with a mark of 9.925. Her score of 9.975 in the floor exercise from last weekend ranks as the second-highest score in school history.

Redshirt freshman Mollot has burst on the scene in his first season of collegiate lacrosse. After last week, he is second in the nation in assists with 13, and his 17 points place him fourth in the nation. He recorded his career-high of five assists against Towson last Saturday, all of which came in the first half. No other player has earned five assists in one game in nearly two years. Mollot also marked a career-high of six points against Towson.

Mollot netted one goal and three assists against Bucknell last Tuesday, marking a two-game total of 10 points last week. He scored his first two collegiate goals in the season-opener against Mt. St. Mary's, and dished out two assists. Mollot's 17 points leads the team, and he is on pace to top last season's assist leader's total of 18 assists. Additionally, Mollot was named a pre-season honorable mention All American by Face-Off Magazine.

This marks the first time Cote and Mollot have been named student-athletes of the week. Cote is majoring in classics, and Mollot is a letters and sciences major.
