Edell Moves Into Fourth On All-Time Win List
Maryland head coach Dick Edell passed former Towson mentor Carl Runk
for fourth on the all-time collegiate coaching win list with the Terps'
8-7 win over Cornell on Saturday. The win was especially sweet because
it came on Edell's 57th birthday. Edell's record currently stands at
263-116 in 28 years at Maryland, Army and the University of Baltimore,
Runk's record was 262-161.
Next on the list for Edell is Army's Jack Emmer, the man who replaced
Edell as the coach at West Point when Edell came to Maryland in 1984.
Emmer is also the only man Edell trails on the active coaching win list.
In his 31st year overall and 17th at Army, Emmer has a 275-148 career
record.
Edell became the first coach in ACC history to reach the 150-win
plateau at a conference school earlier this month with the win over
Towson. In 17 years with the Terps, Edell has a record of 152-69 (.688).

preseason honorable mention All-American attackman leads the Terps in
points with 20 and assists with 14.
He has a six-game point scoring streak with the Terps including a
career-high six points (one goal and five assists) against Towson.

against Duke and two goals and two assists in the opener against Mount
St. Mary's.

the entire 1999 season when Marcus LaChapelle had 18.
Mollot's Assists Most In Two Yrs.
Mike Mollot's single-game assist total of five against Towson was the
most by a Maryland player since Andrew Whipple had five against Loyola
on May 25, 1998 in the NCAA semifinals.
Man-Up Unit Scoring Over 50%
Maryland's man-up unit has been sensational this season, it has scored
on its last six opportunities, going three-for-three in each of the
Terps' last two wins.
Overall, the unit has scored on an amazing 51.9 percent of its
opportunities, netting 14 goals on 27 chances.
Maryland's extra-man unit has scored at least one goal in each game
this season. The unit has scored three goals in each of the Terps' last
three games. Against Cornell Marcus LaChapelle had two man-up goals and
Brian Zeller added the third.
Mike LaMonica leads the Terps in man-up goals with four. All three of
Zeller's goals have been EMO goals this season.
Man-Down Equally Impressive
On the defensive side, Maryland has allowed just three extra-man goals
this season. The Terps have killed off 23 of 26 penalties without
allowing a goal. Opponents have scored on just 11.5 percent of their
extra-man chances.
Maryland has not allowed an EMO goal in two straight games, making its
opponents 0-for-9.
McGinnis Making Many Saves
Junior Pat McGinnis has been outstanding in his first season as the
Terps' starting goalie. In six games, McGinnis has a sensational 6.25
goals against average and a .693 save percentage. He has allowed just 35
goals. He has allowed three goals or less three times this season, most
recently in the win over Delaware.
According to lax.com's goalie ratings system (save percentage
multiplied by saves), McGinnis leads the nation with a 54.75 goalie
rating.
McGinnis also gave up three goals to Bucknell on March 7 and allowed
just one goal in 45 minutes in his career-starting debut against Mount
St. Mary's.
He allowed just seven goals to No. 11 Cornell in Saturday's win, making
10 saves.

| 2. | Todd Schreiner, Lehigh | 51.13 |
| 3. | Matt Vallone, Penn | 48.33 |
| 4. | Billy Arnold, Air Force | 47.18 |
LaChapelle Leads In Goals
Marcus LaChapelle stands atop the Terps' goal scoring chart with 12
after netting two goals against Cornell. He if the only Terp to have
scored a goal in all six games this season.
He had three straight multi-goal games, recording hat tricks against
Duke and Bucknell and two goals against Towson. Those three-goal
performances tied his single-game career high, which was established
against North Carolina on March 27, 1999.
Dating back to the 1999 season, LaChapelle has scored a goal in seven
straight games (14 goals) and has recorded a point in nine straight
games (14 goals, nine assists) for 23 points.
Combs Coming On Strong

the Terps' last two games, netting three apiece against Delaware and
Cornell. He set that career high against Towson on March 7, 1998.
Overall, Combs has eight goals and three assists for 11 points, ranking
him tied for fourth on the team in points with Brian Zeller.
Updating Scoring Streaks
Three players have recorded at least one point in every game this
season, Mike Mollot, Marcus LaChapelle and Chris Malone.
Both LaChapelle and Malone's have point-scoring streaks that date back
to last season with LaChapelle having tallied points in nine straight
games and Malone having notched points in 10 straight games (10 goals
and 10 assists) for 20 points.
Mike LaMonica, had scored at least one goal in each of his last seven
games (13-0-13) dating to the 1999 season, prior to being shutout at
Cornell.
LaMonica Sets Career Highs

points against Towson. All four goals came in the first half.
The star performance was especially sweet for LaMonica, who's mother
Lynda Filbert is a gymnastics coach for the Tigers.
Zeller Leads Active Career Chart
Senior captain Brian Zeller, who equaled his personal career-high with
three assists against Delaware, leads all active Terps in career
scoring with 88 points on 60 goals and 28 assists.

face-offs in every game, following a six-for-12 showing against Cornell.
Overall, Shirk has won 31 of 49 face-offs, 56.4 percent of his draws.
Morsell Passes Career Marks
Mike Morsell has emerged as a weapon for the Terps, scoring the
game-winner against Towson. With six goals for six points this season,
the sophomore has already passed last season's totals of two goals and
three points.
Morsell is also the Terps most accurate shooter, scoring in 53.8
percent (7/13) of his shots. He is followed by Marcus LaChapelle, who
has scored on 48.0 percent of his shots.
Hochstadt Scores Again
Sophomore Craig Hochstadt scored in back-to-back games for the first
time in his career after scoring late in the second quarter against
Delaware to make the score 9-2.
His second goal of the season came against Towson to tie the game at
6-6 in the second quarter. He had scored his first goal of the season
against Duke to bring the Terps to within 8-7 late in the third quarter.
Hochstadt, who had three assists against Mount St. Mary's, scored one
goal in his freshman campaign with the Terps, when he scored against
Dartmouth on March 23, 1999.
Burnham Nets First In Two Yrs.
Defensive midfielder Geoff Burnham scored on a full-field rush after
Carrington King won a face-off in the fourth quarter against Delaware.
It was Burnham's second-career goal. He scored his first career goal in
an NCAA First Round game against Butler on May 10, 1998.
Burnham leads all Maryland field players in groundballs with 34. Only
goalie Pat McGinnis has more groundballs with 35. Burnham has scooped at
least four groundballs in each game this season and has 17 over the last
three games.
Scoring Initiation
Six different Terp freshmen scored their first collegiate goals against
Mount St. Mary's, led by Mike Mollot, who tallied twice. Willy Passavia,
Chris Edwards, Brett Harper, Sean Leary and Ricky Sears also scored in
