TALLAHASSEE, FLA. -
Ryan Barthelemy went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI, leading Florida State (27-4, 6-2 ACC) to an 11-0 win over Maryland (6-17, 0-5 ACC) in baseball action on Friday at Dick Howser Stadium. The game marked the second of a three-game series between the two schools.
Barthelemy singled home a run in the bottom of the first inning, giving the Seminoles a 1-0 lead. Kyle Jernigan knocked in another run in the bottom of the third inning, increasing the lead to 2-0.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Barthelemy struck again, doubling home a pair of runs to widen the lead to 4-0. Florida State then took advantage a pair of Terp miscues in the bottom of the sixth inning to extend the lead to 6-0.
Chris Smith keyed a five-run eighth inning with a two-run home run, widening the lead to 11-0.
Maryland and Florida State conclude their series Saturday at 1 p.m. The game will be televised live by The Sunshine Network.
TERP NOTES: With a double in the third inning, Brian Patenaude extended his hitting streak to a career-high six games.
