COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Chris Malone (Timonium, Md.) and Beth Radford (Dunkirk, Md.) members of the men's lacrosse team and softball team respectively, have been named student-athletes of the week by the Maryland Department of Athletics for the week of March 27-31.

Malone, a junior midfielder, netted a career-high four goals in Saturday's upset over ACC-rival No.6 North Carolina, 10-9. Malone's four goals led the team. He led the Terps to their first win at Fetzer Field since 1986. Malone's three goals in the second quarter put the Terps up 6-5 at halftime, the win marked the Terps' fifth-consecutive victory. Malone ranks third on the team with 17 points, and currently boasts 12 goals and five assists for the season.

Malone also netted the game-winner in the last minute of the Terps' win over No. 11 Cornell on March 18. For his career, he has tallied 28 goals and 18 assists. Additionally, he began the season as an honorable mention preseason All-American by College Lacrosse USA. Malone was also recognized by Face-Off Magazine '00 as an ACC Player to Watch

Radford, a sophomore, received ACC Player of the Week honors on March 27 after spectacular performances in all eight of the Terps' games last week. She boasted seven RBIs, seven runs scored, two home runs, two doubles and two walks, in addition to posting a .500 batting average in her 13-for-26 showing at the plate. Radford, who plays third base and catcher, began the week with a 4-for-8 showing, with four RBIs and a home run to lead the Terps past ACC-rival Georgia Tech in last Tuesday's doubleheader.

Last weekend, Radford continued to shine. She was 2-for-3 at the plate including two runs and one RBI in the Terps' 8-3 win over Coastal Carolina. Additionally, Radford boasts a nine-game hit streak, dating back to the March 19th contest with Georgia Southern. Radford leads the Terps in six statistical catagories including batting average (.343), hits (34), home runs (5), RBIs (22), total bases (54) and slugging percentage (.545).
