Feb. 9, 2001

College Park, Md. - The women's tennis team (2-1, 0-0 ACC) lost its first match of the year Saturday when it fell 6-1 to the Indiana Hoosiers in the College Park Tennis Center. The Terps garnered two singles wins to capture the only team point of the day.

Freshmen Olivia Dubovikov (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Emily Marker (Ann Arbor, Mich.) teamed up for the first time in the No. 1 doubles position to defeat Kelly Blanch and Martina Grimm 8-2. Sophomore Delila Causevic (Silver Spring, Md.) and junior Pamela Floro (Manilla, Philippines) downed Karie Schlukebir and Linda Tran to secure a 9-8 (6) win at the No. 2 doubles. In the closest and most grueling match, freshman Chloe Chavardes (St. Nombreteche, France) battled through a two-hour match before losing to Grimm 7-5, 7-6 at the No. 5 singles spot. The Hoosiers swept the singles portion of the match and earned one doubles win on the way to a victory.
