Chapel Hill, N.C. - The women's tennis team(5-10, 0-5 ACC) continued its ACC slide Sunday in Chapel Hill, N.C. The Terps fell 6-1 to the Tar Heels in their third consecutive road match. Freshman Emily Marker (Ann Arbor, Mich.) netted the only Terp win on the day when she downed Kristin Koenig 7-6, 6-1 in the No. 4 singles. This brings Marker's dual record to 6-8 on the season.
Senior Catherine Valantin (Metz, France) lost her second match of the season against North Carolina's Kate Pinchbeck in the No. 3 singles. After a tough three-set match, Valantin was defeated 6-2, 4-6, 7-5. The Tar Heels also swept the doubles matches to earn the team point.
Maryland is back in action on Wednesday, April 11 when they face the Florida State Seminoles. The match was postponed earlier in the season due to rain and will be played at Queens College in Charlotte, N.C. Matches are slated to begin at 11 a.m. The Terps then return home on April 14 to complete the regular season before preparing for the ACC championships.
