COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Jamar Smith scored a career-high 25 points, including the go-ahead basket with 56 seconds left, and Maryland outlasted No. 15 Wisconsin 73-67 in overtime Tuesday night.

Smith also had 12 rebounds, his fourth double-double in four games. Chris McCray scored a career-high 15 points and John Gilchrist had 12 points and nine assists for the Terrapins (4-0), 92-1 in nonconference home games since Dec. 12, 1989.

The game was part of the ACC-Big Ten Challenge.

Devin Harris scored 24 points for the Badgers (3-1), who rallied to force overtime but were outscored 12-6 in the extra session.

The Badgers led 65-63 in overtime before Gilchrist scored on a drive. After Wisconsin's Mike Wilkinson missed two foul shots, Smith made a layup and D.J. Strawberry followed Harris' miss with a free throw for a 68-65 lead.

Smith then added two free throws to seal the victory.

A 3-pointer by McCray, his first basket of the second half, put Maryland up 57-50 with three minutes left in regulation. But Harris scored the Badgers' next six points, and after Smith made one of two free throws for a 60-58 lead with 21 seconds to go, Wilkinson hit a 3-pointer to put Wisconsin on top.

Maryland's Nik Caner-Medley was then fouled on a putback attempt, and he made of one of two with 2.4 seconds remaining to force overtime.

The Badgers came back because Harris got hot from beyond the arc and his teammates committed only two turnovers in the second half.

Wisconsin trailed 35-28 before Harris hit successive 3-pointers to get the Badgers within one. Gilchrist then made two free throws and Smith hit a 3-pointer before Harris again connected from long range.

Minutes later, Harris sank another 3-pointer and Zach Morley scored off the glass to give Wisconsin its first lead of the second half, 43-42.

The Badgers, who came in averaging 8.3 turnovers, had nine before halftime in falling behind 30-22. Wisconsin made only six field goals and was outrebounded 19-13.
