Maryland Women's Tennis Sweeps Georgetown, 7-0

Feb. 15, 2004

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - After notching their first win of the season on Saturday over No. 72 Old Dominion, the No. 75-ranked University of Maryland women's tennis team returned to their home courts Sunday, blanking Georgetown University, 7-0. The Terps improved to 2-4 (0-0 ACC) on the season. With the loss, the Hoyas dropped to 0-4 on the season.

Maryland looked impressive in doubles, a foreshadowing of what was to come in singes action. The Terps did not allow the Hoyas to take set, winning all of the doubles matches, 8-0.

Singles action followed almost the same pattern, with Maryland sweeping all of the singles matches.

The Terps return to the road next weekend, traveling to Virginia Commonwealth University for matches on Saturday and Sunday. Maryland will play Richmond on Feb. 21 at 11 a.m., and host VCU, Feb. 22, at 11 a.m.
