Maryland women's tennis standout, Ramona But (Timisoara, Romania), was named to the 2004 All-ACC team. But joins an 18-player squad that was announced by conference officials Thursday. This is her second All-Conference nod after being named as a freshman last season.
The sophomore finished the regular season tied with a team-high 14 singles victories this spring. Overall But's singles record stands at 18-6. During the course of the 2004 regular season, But moved from a pre-season ranking of 75 to a career-high ranking of 32 at the close of Maryland's regular season.
But played in the Nos. 1 and 2 singles positions for the Terps, finishing out the year at 8-2 and 6-2 in the spots respectively. Since moving into the top singles slot, But won seven of nine matches to end the season. She complied a 5-2 record against ranked players.
Maryland (8-11, 2-6 ACC) begins play at the ACC Tournament today at the Millbrook Exchange Tennis Center in Raleigh. No. 8 seeded Maryland will play No. 9 seeded NC State at 3:00 p.m.
