Terrapin Baseball Shuts Down UMBC, 2-0

ABERDEEN, Md. - The University of Maryland baseball team shut down the University of Maryland-Baltimore County Wednesday at Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen, Md., 2-0. The Terrapins received a solid pitching performance from sophomore Ben Pfinsgraff.

Pfinsgraff threw his first complete game as a Terrapin, and the first Maryland (16-15) shutout of the season. He struck out seven UMBC (5-18) batters while issuing just one walk and surrendering only three hits en route to his third win of the season.

The Terps struggled at the plate, but received all the run support they needed from junior Kevin Hart. Hart hit two home runs in the game, accounting for both Terrapin runs. Hart hit two home runs earlier in the season against Duke on March 27.

Juniors Brian Jarosinski and Joe Sargent each picked up a hit in the game along with sophomore Matt Maropis. Jarosinski also stole a base against the Retrievers, his second of the season.

The Terrapins be in action next when they host the University North Carolina State University on Friday, April 9, at Harry Grove Stadium in Frederick, Md. The game is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
