Terps Women's Basketball Launches New Website

Oct. 29, 2008

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Head Coach Brenda Frese and the Maryland women's basketball program unveiled it's new website, www.MarylandWomensBasketball.com, today. The site is designed to showcase the program and utilizes cutting edge technology.

"I saw an opportunity to show how unique our program is here at Maryland and we decided the development of a new website was the best platform to do so," Frese said. "I really believe that the amount of time our fans spend on the Internet is very telling in how we should reach out to them. I am constantly online, emailing, texting, or on my cell phone. In today's world, technology is definitely the easiest and most effective way to connect with our alumni, fans, and friends. What's great about our new website is it allows everyone to get an inside look at our program at their convenience. It's always online and accessible for anyone to see."

An exciting aspect of the website is that is was built to be completely custom to the Maryland program, making it easy to maintain and ensuring that it will stay fresh and exciting. The website offers visitors multiple navigation and design features that keep it captivating without compromising the content. Visitors can mouse-over player profile "cards" as the set spins around before clicking on the selected player.

In addition to providing interesting information on the players and the coaching staff, it also features virtual tours of the Comcast Center, personalized messages for the fans, and Head Coach Brenda Frese herself introduces visitors to her program.

The Terrapins were 33-4 last season, advancing to the NCAA Elite Eight for the second time in three years. After two seniors were selected in the first-round of the WNBA draft (Crystal Langhorne and Laura Harper), the Terps return two All-Americans from last year, Kristi Toliver (Harrisonburg, Va./Harrisonburg) and Marissa Coleman (Cheltenham, Md./St. Johns College D.C.). Also returning and looking to take on a bigger role this season is sophomore Marah Strickland (Mt. Airy, Md./Towson Catholic), who was the only rookie on the team to play in every game last season, starting in 36 of the team's 37 contests.

Frese, who embarks on her seventh season at the Maryland helm, will look to a young group of players to fill the voids left by Harper, Langhorne and Jade Perry. Among those are McDonald's All-American Lynetta Kizer (Woodbridge, Va./Potomac) and sophomore Drey Mingo (Atlanta, Ga./Marist), who was a former high school All-American. The Terps, ranked 6th in Athlon's preseason poll, are slated to face seven teams ranked in the poll's preseason Top 25, including ACC foes Duke (#5), North Carolina (#12), Virginia (#18) and Florida State (#20).
