BALTIMORE -
The Maryland women's basketball team has played five games away from home since it last took the court at Comcast Center, and while Tuesday's visit to Loyola will be no different, the Terrapins are glad to at least be in the right state. Maryland and Loyola will tip off from Reitz Arena in Baltimore at 7 p.m. Tuesday as the local rivals renew a long series.
No. 15 Maryland (7-2) will look to bounce back from an 86-57 defeat suffered at the hands of Pittsburgh on Sunday at the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh. Kristi Toliver led the team with 12 points, and Lynetta Kizer added 10. Marissa Coleman scored eight and pulled down nine rebounds as she moved into fourth place on the Terps' all-time scoring list with 1,683 points.
Maryland fell behind early, 23-12, against the Panthers but managed to fight back to take a 26-25 lead with 5:38 to go in the first half. From there, though, the Panthers took off. Pitt led by six at the half and stretched their lead to as much as 31 before all was said and done.
Loyola (6-2, 2-0 MAAC) is on a five-game winning streak coming into Tuesday's action. The Greyhounds are coming off two conference victories to open up the MAAC slate, as they defeated Manhattan and Rider at home.
The Terps and Greyhounds are no strangers to each other. The two programs have met in 15 of the past 17 seasons, with Maryland holding a 14-3 overall series lead. The Terps have won the past eight matchups, including a 98-50 triumph at Comcast Center last season.
Maryland last visited Loyola in December, 2006, taking a 110-55 contest.
