Smith, Anwah Finish Third at ECAC Championships

Smith in Second Place With Three Events Left in Heptathlon

Princeton, N.J. - During the first day of competition at the ECAC Championships, Christina Smith placed first in the 200 meters and second in the shot put to head into tomorrow's final three heptathlon events in second place.

Smith earned 3,203 total points after finishing first in the 200 meters with a time of 24.82 and second in the shot put with a mark of 39-08.00. She will compete in the long jump, javelin and 800 meters tomorrow, looking to capture the ECAC title in the event.

In the 5,000 meters, senior Meghan Braffet finished ninth with a time of 17:13.96.

The Terrapin men and women return to action tomorrow during the second day of competition at the ECAC/IC4A Championships. On the women's side, the day starts with the final three heptathlon events, while the Maryland men will look for a strong start from Sal Delhierro in the hammer.
