Follow Letts in Istanbul
COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
University of Maryland rising junior Mike Letts will represent the United States in the FILA Junior World Championships in Istanbul, Turkey. He will compete for the United States in the 185-pound weight class at the event, to be contested from July 29 to August 3.
He will participate with the team at a training camp in Colorado Springs, Colo., to prepare for the championships.
Letts won the 174-pound freestyle division at the FILA Junior Nationals in Las Vegas in April. This event qualified him for the FILA Junior World Team Trials in the freestyle division.
Letts won the ACC Championship at 174 pounds for the second straight season for the Terps and is now a perfect 9-0 in conference duals in his career. He finished the 2007-08 season with a 22-6 record, including four pins and a team-leading nine major decisions. He was ranked in the top 10 nationally all season and reached as high as No. 7 in the nation.
