Dominic Berger of the University of Maryland finished eighth in his heat and 28th overall in Saturday's first round of the men's 110-meter hurdles at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials at Hayward Field.
Berger ran 14.74 seconds in his heat after qualifying for the Trials as one of eight collegians in the field for the 110 hurdles. Berger would have needed a mark of 13.83 to qualify for the quarterfinals, which were held later Saturday.
The field of 29 runners was trimmed to 16 for Sunday's semifinals, with the final eight running in the final in prime time on Sunday night on NBC.
Favorite David Oliver of Nike had the best mark of the quarterfinals at 13.07 and will be the top seed in the first of two semifinals. Oliver went 13.24 to post the best mark in the first round.
Anwar Moore of Nike will be the top seed in the second semifinal on Sunday after going 13.17 in the semifinals.
